Irish SMEs can save a lot of money by investing in energy efficiency initiatives. As the Irish economy continues to grow, so too does the energy requirements of SMEs and the agricultural sector throughout the country. Ireland is transforming to a low carbon economy in an effort to meet targets set by our government and international bodies, such as the EU, and to reduce the economy’s dependence on fossil fuels, however many challenges remain.
The SEAI is ultimately trying to help both individuals and organisations to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in doing so help make savings on their bills.
To help reach those targets the SEAI has been providing training, standards developments as well as the grants already discusses.
AIB Energy Efficiency Outlook
A recent report by AIB takes a deeper look at some of these initiatives and how they have impacted the various sectors of the economy.
The study highlights that one of the most successful initiatives was for businesses who upgraded their lighting by introducing energy saving LED lighting. For a lot of Irish SME’s the cost of their lighting is second to staff costs however, new LED energy saving technology business have seen savings of up to 60%
